4th of July at the Cabin

Every year on the 4th of July we go up to my grandpas cabin in Brighton with all my family and cousins. A few years ago my aunt Dede challenged us to hike past Lake Solitude up and over to twin lakes, and when we did it I swear I was going to die, so now every year Tyler and I like to keep up the hiking so we can keep up. This year with all the snow still up there we just went to Twin Lakes and didn't go up and over because you really needed a sled to get down. After the cabin we came home exhausted and sore so we just hung out on the deck and watched all the fireworks being lit off in our neighborhood which was as good as Sugarhouse fireworks. Kate hopped the fence and went to our neighbors house and lit fireworks with them in their front yard until she burned her hand with a sparkler then she came home and we tended to that the rest of the night. It was a very fun day and I'm glad I've been able to spend it every year with my family.

So this hill is one of the steepest and once you get past it your pretty much to the lake but Tyler couldn't carry Kate anymore so we challenged her to walk up faster then us and lately that works for everything its awesome and she walked up the entire hill by herself, she is such a champ.

Tyler posing for the picture, actually I just caught him taking a break at the right time.
See all that snow behind them that was what we would have had to walk on to keep going over the mountain, not very likely with two kids.

Isn't this view amazing, it was so pretty.
Twin Lakes still iced over

If you weren't really careful this was the only was down the mountain, Kate had a blast sliding down with Tyler
